"SIGNTERIOR" is a project which I designed a space using signs to guide people.
Japanese is the language of Japan, English the language of Great Britain, and Chinese is the language of China. Similarly, there is a language of economics, a language of design, and a language of architecture. While the particular language commonly used in each particular country or field is capable of expressing efficiently every detail of that world, I think it also ends up regulating and constraining that world. That's why I try to use a language that's removed from architecture when I design a building.
Sign s are not a language one uses when designing a building. While thinking about signs when designing buildings is not completely irrelevant, they do not play the main role in spatial composition. As it's easy to get lost in a complex facility, I created the space in SIGNTERIOR with sign s themselves.(Nobuhiro Nakamura/A-ASTERISK)
