The following is a text by the designer.

Last September Oslo-based designer So Takahashi launched his origami chair in London Designersblock at 100% Norway. OSHIBORI Chair will be launched at DESIGN FRA NORD in Lillestrøm Norway from January 22 to 25 2009
The basis for SoTakahashi design studio has been to combine commercial work with an on going exploration of design that floats between the different dimensions; 2D, 3D, audio. Whether it is a book cover, a chair, an album or a performance, it is all part of the same exploration and creative process of designing an output – an expression.
Although he travels a great deal, it has been life in Oslo that recently inspired Takahashi to work on 3D objects. The Origami chair is the first product from many sketches that has come to be realized.
The chairs are made from folded, powder-coated sheet metal.
Bending a sheet of metal like a sheet of paper looks easy but it was not the easiest thing. Making it appears weightless, creating a floating illusion if you look at the chair from certain angles. The cross over between my Japanese heritage (origami) into Scandinavian wood bending technique is part of the idea behind design.
