トラフ建築設計事務所の会場構成による「士郎正宗の世界展～『攻殻機動隊』と創造の軌跡～」です。
“攻殻機動隊”などで知られる漫画家の展示です。建築家は、未来を描く世界への時間の層の追加を意図し、経年変化のあるパネルを壁面に用いる計画を考案しました。また、単管パイプを組んだ展示壁で作品の主題と呼応する透過性と浮遊感も創出しました。展覧会の公式サイトはこちら。

『アップルシード』『攻殻機動隊』『ドミニオン』『仙術超攻殻ORION』など、情報と構造が交差する作品群を、「アナログ原稿」「デジタル出力原稿」、蔵書やコメントとともに多層的に体感できる空間を目指した。SFや漫画に注力してきた同館の30周年を飾る展示である。
観客が物語に段階的に没入できるよう、入口に大きな暖簾を設置。くぐる行為が現実から作品世界への移行となる。冒頭には作家の活動年表を配し、展示への導入とした。
経年変化の残るパネルを壁面に用い、剥がし跡を活かして記憶の堆積を感じさせる静かな空間を構成。蛍光の黄色い紙に出力されたサインを貼り、荒れた壁との強いコントラストが動線を導く。過去の痕跡が未来を描く世界に時間の層を加える。
中央には『攻殻機動隊』を象徴的に配置し、単管パイプの構造体で展示壁を構成。透過性と浮遊感が、テクノロジーと身体、都市とネットワークといった主題を建築的に表現する。

全体を通して原稿やスケッチを配し、蔵書やコメントを通じて作家の思考に触れる構成とし、空間もまた読み解きの場として設計した。

The Exhibition of The World of Shirow Masamune -“The Ghost in the Shell” and The Path of Creation-
We designed the exhibition space for The World of Shirow Masamune: The Legacy of The Ghost in the Shell, held at Setagaya Literary Museum. Marking the museum’s 30th anniversary, the exhibition presents key works such as Appleseed, The Ghost in the Shell, Dominion, and Orion, interweaving analog manuscripts, digital prints, the artist’s personal library, and handwritten notes in a multilayered spatial experience.
To create a gradual immersion into Shirow’s narrative universe, a large noren curtain was installed at the entrance—inviting visitors to pass from the real world into the world of the work. A timeline of the artist’s career introduces the exhibition.
Aged panels with peeling marks were reused on the walls to evoke layers of memory, while vivid yellow fluorescent signage was added to guide circulation through striking contrast. These temporal textures suggest a world where remnants of the past inform visions of the future.
At the center of the venue, The Ghost in the Shell is prominently featured, surrounded by semi-transparent scaffolding-like structures made of steel pipes. This architectural framework conveys the exhibition’s themes—technology and the body, city and network—through a sense of lightness and floating tension.
The final section invites visitors to engage with the artist’s thinking process through original sketches, notes, and books, turning the entire space into a site for reflection and discovery.
