What role can architecture play in mediating between the past and the future? This is a question that the architect Tsuyoshi Tane (b. Tokyo, 1979) has consistently engaged with throughout his international body of work. Each project by the Paris-based practice Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects begins with an intensive research phase meant to excavate the memories embedded in a place and integrate these into the creative process: a method the architect terms the «Archaeology of the Future».
In the context of the exhibition «Tsuyoshi Tane: Archaeology of the Future», Tsuyoshi Tane will introduce his work and his approach in the form of a public lecture.

Star architect Ma Yansong is a Beijing local. Breaking tradition, he surrounded the nearly 300-year-old courtyard with a new building like a colorful ribbon. Looking from above, the roof appears undulating like the surface of Mars. Among a bunch of kindergarten design that’s hard on the eye, it is indeed unique and refreshing. Follow YIT and the kids to experience it!
Chengdu architect Liu Jiakun designed and built the 45,000㎡ Chengdu West Village, which resembles a giant “hot pot” but looks unfinished. Hot pot in bamboo forest, rooftop runway, square dance stage, creative market… people of all ages can find fun in this “unfinished building”. This fall, YIT went to Chengdu to meet Liu Jiakun. In the West Village, we captured the leisure time of Chengdu people after the outbreak.

This 360º video commemorates the landmark exhibition, Gerhard Richter: Painting After All, providing an immersive experience for all those who could not see it in person. Developed in close collaboration with the artist, this was the final major exhibition at The Met Breuer. The exhibition was forced to close prematurely due to the COVID-19 pandemic just nine days after its opening.
Visit our website for a new recording of Peter Märkli in his atelier talking about his latest ‘language drawings’ as part of his current exhibition ‘Drawings and Small Tables’ with us at Betts Project.
The Swiss architect discusses his thought processes and inspirations behind these fascinating drawings, and how and where he begins to conceive them. With references to Diego Velazquez, Piero della Francesca and Alberto Giacometti, Märkli draws relationships between his understandings of history of art, space and his urban plans.
For more information about the exhibition, or to get your hands on the new exhibition catalogue, please visit the Betts Project website.
