Born in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, Tomoaki Uno opened his office in Nagoya in 1990 and has created many beautiful architectures with a refined aesthetic and an exceptional sensitivity to structure and materials. The studio works on a range of projects, from residential architecture to product design, working closely with a carefully selected group of artisans to create all the architecture by hand. Twelve years ago, he published the book Visible Invisible which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the office with a collection of photographs taken by Yutaka Nishizawa. More recently, the Portuguese publisher AMAG dedicated an issue to the work of the office.
